The Christmas Princess is the story of a little girl named Mariah who lives with her mom and pet bird in a rundown shack. They don’t have much money, their home is falling apart, and Mariah is expected to do the work and cleaning around the house on her own, but when it’s Christmas, everyone helps! This Christmas, Mariah is left alone at the house, and some bad neighbors visit who scare her and wreck her home, when she runs into the woods to get away, she finds some unexpected friends there to help her. Mariah discovers a way to make things right in her life and for everyone around her.
The Christmas Princess has parts that remind me of Cinderella, and I was told that the way that Mariah lives in the book is similar to how author, Mariah Carey, also grew up. There were several bigger words in the story that I didn’t know, but the ending of the book is happy and special, which is good because other happenings had me questioning why and why would people do those things to others?! I’m wondering if there will be more Little Mariah books and if so, I look forward to reading them.
