Advocate: A Graphic Memoir of Family, Community, and the Fight for Environmental Justice

Eddie Ahn’s riveting memoir about his family, his service to the nonprofit work, and his environmental justice was very interesting, to say the least. From growing up in Texas working at his parent’s liquor store to starting his law degree journey into the nonprofit world. Read this graphic novel for a fascinating memoir about a fierce advocate’s journey in service to others despite his family’s disapproval.

Clearly, Ahn is extremely intelligent, talented, and hardworking – he’s accomplished so much at such a young age. It was eye-opening to learn about the nonprofit world and all the hard work and selfless dedication that Ahn and other nonprofit workers go through to help those less fortunate and to build a better community. I wasn’t sure what this book was going to be about, but I found this to be such a compelling and honest story. Not only has Anh accomplished so much as an environmental justice advocate, but he is also a self-taught artist. I love his art style – the realism of it, all the shading and the details. I highly recommend this graphic novel to anyone looking for a heartfelt story about family and duty and following your heart.
