Halloween is almost here, which means it will get scary and spooky! Most of the time, humans get scared of things they hear or see at night, but Vlad the little vampire gets scared of Things That Go Bump in the Day! He is trying to get ready for bed, and right when he is almost asleep, he starts to hear unfamiliar noises outside. Each time this happens, he calls his mom, and she has an answer for everything, which helps Vlad calm down. What happens if there comes a time when she can’t explain a sound?!
Things That Go Bump in the Day is funny because Vlad hears regular noises that aren’t scary to humans; it is fun to see his/someone else’s interpretation. The story was easy to follow and I enjoyed the “noise” words throughout the book. I liked seeing different kinds of monsters and looking at all the illustrations. Kids of elementary age and older will enjoy this story because you need some knowledge about what the noises are for it to be funny. This is a great Halloween story option to get in the mood!
